The software I attempted to load from QNAP did not work (trial expired), however as I have a TS-659 PRO+ I downloaded the software from the Virtualhere website. This did provide a single USB connection which can be used - and swapped as devices are needed. I tried the software successively connecting a Canon MP830 scanner printer, and a Epson V700 scanner. It appears that my computers can mount the shared drive, but are unable to index the backup drive, write to the drive, or even eject the drive. Syslog server problem On my 420 and 212 I run syslog servers on UDP/TCP 514 and they receive logs from a DD-WRT router, a Raspberry Pi running OpenElec, the other QNAP (if I tell them to) and a freshly setup Raspberry Pi running Raspian without problem.
